On April 8, in Hanoi, General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense - chaired a conference of leaders of the Ministry of National Defense on local military organization after merging provincial-level administrative units, not district-level administrative units.
Speaking at the conference, General Phan Van Giang requested agencies to study and advise on the arrangement of provincial military commands and provincial Border Guards according to the merged provinces, ensuring comprehensiveness, synchronization, and compliance with the guidelines of all-people national defense, people's war, Fatherland protection strategy, and national border protection strategy; at the same time, ensuring unity in building a complete, solid, and stable defense zone.
At the conference, based on the results of implementing the resolutions and conclusions of the Politburo, delegates focused on researching, discussing and giving opinions on a number of contents on local military organization after merging provincial-level administrative units, not district-level administrative units;
At the same time, it is determined to continue to arrange local military organizations and Border Guards according to the policies of the Party and State, ensuring "streamlining - compact - strong" effectiveness, efficiency, reducing intermediary units, truly being the core in building and implementing the national defense policy, people's war and firmly protecting national border and security sovereignty.
