Increasing the designed capacity of Gia Binh airport by 5 times
The Ministry of Construction has just adjusted the airport planning, in which Gia Binh airport was adjusted to increase the expected design capacity to about 5 million passengers/year.
On April 3, Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan signed Decision No. 347/QD-BXD on Approving the adjustment of the Master Plan for the development of the national airport system for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
Notably, the Ministry of Construction has adjusted the addition of Gia Binh airport to the National Airport System Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 with the following planning targets:
Airport name: Gia Binh International Airport.
Airport scale and level: 4E.
The designed capacity is expected to be about 5 million passengers/year for the period 2021-2030; about 15 million passengers/year with a vision to 2050.
Expected land area: about 408.5 ha.
The estimated investment cost according to the planning is about 25,614 billion VND for the period 2021-2030.
This Decision replaces Decision No. 142/QD-BGTVT dated February 12, 2025 of the Minister of Transport (Decision 142).
Previously, Decision 142 stipulated that Gia Binh International Airport has a designed capacity of about 1 million passengers/year for the period 2021-2030; about 3 million passengers/year with a vision to 2050. The expected land area is about 363.5 hectares. Estimated investment cost according to the planning is about 17,682 billion VND for the same period 2021-2030
