Kien Giang identifies 37 important areas of Phu Quoc City

The People's Committee of Kien Giang province has just issued a decision on identifying areas of important significance in Phu Quoc city.

This Decision identifies the scope of areas of important political, economic - social, cultural and historical significance of the province; areas that play a highlight in terms of space, architecture, urban landscape; areas of significance in terms of environment and natural landscape; areas expected to invest in works to serve the 2027 APEC Conference in Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province as a basis for organizing the preparation, appraisal and approval of zoning plans and detailed plans according to the provisions of the Law on Urban Planning.

The People's Committee of Kien Giang province has identified 37 important areas of Phu Quoc city as being in 13 functional subdivisions, many functional subdivisions and not within the functional subdivisions according to the general planning approved in Decision No. 150/QD-TTg.

Specifically, the areas of important significance are located in 13 functional sub-areas in Phu Quoc, including: Sub-area 1 is Duong Dong area (old Phu Quoc airport and Phu Quoc international passenger port, Duong Dong 2 lake, Duong Dong river landscape route, new administrative center of Phu Quoc city, central square and Uncle Ho monument, provincial road 975 Cua Lap - Vo Thi Sau section - bank of Duong Dong river, Duong Dong 2 lake).

Zone 2 is Bai Truong area (urban train route section 1 from Phu Quoc airport to the center of APEC conference and An Thoi area; cultural and sports center area and Suoi Lon lake resettlement area).

Sub-zone 3 is Bai Ong Lang - Cua Can area (medical center area, vocational and high-tech education area in Dong Cay Sao; Cua Can lake, Cua Can resettlement area, Cua Duong and Cua Can resettlement area, Cua Can commune).

Sub-zone 4 is Bai Vong ( non-taxable area). Sub-zone 5 in Bai Sao area (the entire Bai Sao area). Sub-zone 6 in An Thoi area (Phu Quoc prison area; APEC conference center and functional works; APEC Avenue; mixed-use urban area - Dat Do Beach; An Thoi resettlement area; Ong Quan Mountain eco-tourism mixed-use area; coastal road connecting An Thoi port; An Thoi international seaport area; An Thoi wastewater treatment area)...

In addition, the areas of important significance belong to many functional subdivisions, including: the coastal road east of Phu Quoc Island; the East-West Avenue of Phu Quoc Island.

Areas of important significance but not included in the functional subdivision, including Phu Quoc International Airport; Bai Bon waste treatment area and Bai Bon waste treatment plant (Ham Ninh commune), Bai Khem golf course.

At the same time, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province requested the Department of Construction to coordinate with the Phu Quoc Economic Zone Management Board and relevant departments and branches to develop a plan to organize the development of zoning plans related to important areas to propose a specific roadmap for the period from 2025 to 2027 to complete the plans.
