Kien Giang solicits voters' opinions on merging provinces and reorganizing commune-level units

On April 19, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province held an online conference to collect voters' opinions on the arrangement of administrative units.

The conference approved Plan No. 126 of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province to implement the arrangement of administrative units and build a model of organizing local government at 2 levels of Kien Giang province; Plan No. 127 of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province to collect voters' opinions on the project to reorganize Kien Giang province and An Giang province and the project to reorganize commune-level administrative units of Kien Giang province in 2025.

The collection of voters' opinions on the above two projects to submit to competent authorities must ensure progress, efficiency, and compliance with legal regulations.

According to the Plan, Kien Giang will collect voters' opinions from April 23 to 25, 2025. Approving the People's Council at the commune level on April 26, 2025, approving the People's Council at the district level on April 27, 2025. Approving the People's Council of Kien Giang province on April 28, 2025; completing the project dossier to submit to the Central Government on April 29, 2025.

The Provincial People's Committee requires the correct determination of the scope and subjects of collecting opinions, organizing collecting voters' opinions in accordance with the characteristics of the population, ensuring safety, economy, efficiency, democratic publicity and in accordance with the provisions of law.

Providing voters with complete and correct information on the arrangement of provincial and commune-level administrative units, so that voters clearly understand the meaning and content of the collection of opinions; the rights, obligations and responsibilities of voters; encouraging and motivating voters to actively participate when competent authorities organize the collection of voters' opinions.

Organize meetings of People's Councils at all levels to unanimously approve the policy of arranging administrative units at the provincial and commune levels to ensure time and compliance with legal regulations.

For the "Project to reorganize Kien Giang and An Giang provinces", organize a voter consultation for all commune-level administrative units.

For the "Project to reorganize commune-level administrative units of Kien Giang province in 2025", it is organized to collect voters' opinions on commune-level administrative units related to the arrangement.
