Cold air ends, the North is about to have widespread hot weather
Today, April 15, the cold air has stopped operating. According to the meteorological agency, the heat in the North will increase from April 18.
Today, April 15, due to the cold air ceasing to operate, the temperature in the North will increase rapidly. The early morning is cool, the afternoon is sunny with the highest temperature in some places above 32 degrees Celsius.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that from April 17, the mountainous areas from Nghe An to Quang Ngai will have widespread hot weather. The highest temperature is about 35 - 37 degrees Celsius, some places are above 37 degrees Celsius.
From April 18, hot weather will occur widely in the Central region, the plains and midlands of the North and the South.
The meteorological agency warns that the heat wave is likely to last for many days in the North, Central and South. The risk level of natural disasters due to heat is level 1.
Due to the influence of hot weather combined with low humidity in the air, there is a risk of fire and explosion in residential areas due to increased demand for electricity and the risk of forest fires.
In addition, hot weather can also cause dehydration, exhaustion, and heat stroke in the human body when exposed to high temperatures for a long time.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting noted that the forecast temperature in hot weather reports and the actual outdoor temperature may vary by 2 - 4 degrees Celsius, or even higher depending on buffer conditions such as concrete and asphalt roads.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoa - Deputy Head of the Climate Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the temperature in April and May this year is forecast to be approximately the same as the average of many years, so the intensity of hot weather will not be too severe, especially if compared to last year.
April 2024 is the time when many temperature records are broken. According to statistics, more than 100 meteorological stations across the country recorded the highest temperature surpassing the historical values previously observed in the same period. These figures show the harshness of last year's hot season.
" Meanwhile, there are no signs that the temperature will increase so dramatically this year. Therefore, hot weather and severe heat will still occur this year, but it is unlikely to be at the extreme level or surpass the record as in 2024" - Mr. Hoa commented.
