Binh Chanh District proposes to merge 16 communes and towns into 7 new communes
Ho Chi Minh City - Binh Chanh District proposed to arrange from 16 communes and towns to 7 commune-level administrative units.
Binh Chanh District is organizing a public consultation on the implementation of the arrangement and reorganization of administrative units at all levels and building a model of organizing local government at 2 levels.
With a natural area of 252.55 km2 and a population of more than 835,000 people, Binh Chanh district is currently one of the localities with the fastest urbanization rate in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the project being consulted, from the current 16 communes and towns, Binh Chanh district will reduce to 7 commune-level administrative units.

Vinh Loc A commune (new) will be formed from the merger of the existing Vinh Loc A commune with part of Pham Van Hai commune. The new administrative unit has an area of 28.21 km2 and a population of 175,772 people. The headquarters of the Commune People's Committee is located at the current location of Vinh Loc A commune.
Vinh Loc B commune (new) includes the existing Vinh Loc B commune and the rest of Pham Van Hai commune. The new unit has an area of 36.35 km2, population of 168,245 people. The working headquarters is located at the People's Committees of Vinh Loc B and Pham Van Hai communes.
Binh Loi commune (new) was merged from Le Minh Xuan commune and Binh Loi commune, with a total area of 54.18 km2 and a population of 54,876 people. The administrative headquarters will be maintained at both locations, the People's Committee of Le Minh Xuan commune and the People's Committee of Binh Loi commune.
Tan Nhut commune (new) is a merger of three units: Tan Kien commune, Tan Nhut commune and Tan Tuc town, forming a commune with an area of 43.48 km2 and a population of 109,414 people. The headquarters is expected to be located at the headquarters of the People's Committee of Binh Chanh District.
Binh Chanh commune (new) will merge from three communes: An Phu Tay, Binh Chanh and Tan Quy Tay. The new commune has an area of 22.39 km2 and a population of 78,781 people. Administrative headquarters are arranged at Tan Quy Tay Commune People's Committee and An Phu Tay Commune People's Committee.
Hung Long commune (new) is the result of the merger of Hung Long, Qui Duc and Da Phuoc communes, with an area of 35.54 km2 and a population of 74,152 people. The new commune headquarters will be located at Hung Long Commune People's Committee and Qui Duc Commune People's Committee.
Binh Hung commune (new) was formed from two communes, Binh Hung and Phong Phu, with an area of 32.4 km2 and a population of up to 174,183 people. The administrative headquarters will be located at both existing locations, Binh Hung Commune People's Committee and Phong Phu Commune People's Committee.
