Hon Khoai, a national leader in the world's largest sea

Late evening on December 7, Ca Mau province solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Hon Khoai uprising, the revolutionary traditional day of the Party Committee, army and people of Ca Mau province (December 13, 1930 - December 13, 2025).

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai reviewed the heroic history of 85 years ago. The Hon Khoai Uprising on the night of December 13, 40, led by comrade Phan Ngoc Hien, was a brilliant milestone, marking the remarkable maturity of the Provincial Party Committee.

Despite being brutally oppressed by the enemy and 10 soldiers heroically sacrificing, the spirit of "Wishing to sacrifice, but definitely refusing to be a servant" became an immortal epic. Since then, December 13 every year has become a glorious traditional revolutionary day of the Party Committee, army and people of Ca Mau.

Not only reviewing history, the ceremony is also an opportunity to affirm the new position of Ca Mau.

From a difficult land, Ca Mau has now become a new growth pole, a gateway to the great ocean of the region. The province is focusing all resources on strategic infrastructure such as Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway, Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway, especially the Hon Khoai Bi-use General Seaport and Hon Khoai access bridge...

Emphasizing the strategic vision, Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai affirmed: If 85 years ago, Hon Khoai and 10 revolutionary martyrs lit the fire, becoming a spark to light the road. Today, Hon Khoai continues to be called by the Fatherland, receiving a new mission to create a "possession of a great sea nation", opening a future path for Vietnam, as General Secretary To Lam said.

Hero of the People's Armed Forces Le Van Kiem was full of emotion when talking about the Hon Khoai event: "I stand here today, honored to wear the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, which is also thanks to the guidance, protection, and crystallization of that indomitable spirit. As a soldier, a Hero of the People's Armed Forces, I always consider the Hon Khoai tradition as a source of nurturing the will to fight, a reminder not to ever back down in the face of difficulties".

Previously, as Lao Dong reported, on August 19, 2025, the Ministry of National Defense coordinated with Ca Mau province to simultaneously start construction of strategic projects: Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway, the sea-crossing route connecting the mainland to Hon Khoai Island, and Hon Khoai Bi-use General Port, with the goal of connecting the North - South axis to the South of the Fatherland, developing the marine economy and strengthening national defense and security. These projects, constructed by the 12th Corps (Ministry of National Defense), are expected to be completed in 2028, forming a vital transport infrastructure system, including the longest sea overpass in Vietnam.
