Journey connecting the two banks of the Tien River at the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project
Ben Tre - Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre, has been officially closed after more than 3 years of construction.
At the end of March 2022, the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project officially started construction. However, after 1 year of implementation, many difficulties have surrounded this key project.
One of the biggest obstacles is site clearance in Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces, causing many difficulties in construction.
At that time, Mr. Tran Van Hung - technical officer of Dinh An Group Company Limited, the unit implementing the XL-04 package of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project - said that the authorities of Tien Giang province were slow and inconsistent in site clearance, continuously causing difficulties for the contractor constructing the XL-04 package on Tien Giang side. In some construction areas, there are still electric poles, cables, houses, etc. that have not been relocated. The site is not clean, so it is very difficult for the contractor to carry out the construction.

After that, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conducted many field inspections at the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project site. Here, the Prime Minister proposed to complete the project on the occasion of September 2, 2025. At the same time, he requested the two localities of Ben Tre and Tien Giang to urgently clear the cleared land to hand over to the contractor for construction.
With the Prime Minister promptly removing the problem and giving close instructions, on April 19, 2025, the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project was organized, marking an important milestone, symbolizing the solidarity, perseverance and dedication of hundreds of engineers and workers who have poured sweat on the construction site throughout the 3 years of construction.

Rach Mieu 2 Bridge - although not yet completed - has become a symbol of development aspiration, of perseverance in overcoming difficulties and the spirit of solidarity between the government, businesses and people. Each bridge span that is taking shape is a steady advance for a better and more connected West.
The journey connecting the two banks of the Tien River is not only the story of building a bridge - it is the story of faith, of the transformation of an entire fertile land that is reaching strongly into the future.
As of April 19, 2025, the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project has completed 85% of the volume, exceeding the general progress by 5.04% compared to the plan. In particular, the main bridge (Rach Mieu 2 bridge) is more than 15% ahead of schedule.
The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project has a starting point at the intersection between National Highway 1 and Provincial Road 870 in Chau Thanh District, Tien Giang Province, and an end point connecting to National Highway 60 at the Ham Luong Bridge approach road in Ben Tre Province. This project has a scale of 4 lanes, a design speed of 80km/h, with a total investment of more than VND 6,810 billion, expected to be completed in early September 2025.
