Hanoi free bus and urban railway tickets on April 30 - May 1, 2026
Hanoi exempts bus and urban railway tickets for 7 days on the occasion of Giỗ Tổ and April 30 - May 1, 2026, contributing to reducing congestion and encouraging public transport.
Hanoi City will exempt all fares for using subsidized public passenger transport vehicles for 7 days during the Hung Kings Commemoration Festival holiday and the April 30 - May 1 holiday of 2026, in order to encourage people to use public transport, contributing to reducing traffic congestion and environmental pollution.
On April 23, Hanoi City People's Committee unanimously chose option 2 according to the proposal of Hanoi Department of Construction on exempting tolls for using subsidized public passenger transport vehicles (including buses and urban railways) for people and tourists during upcoming holidays.

Accordingly, the scope of application is for 128 subsidized bus routes and 2 urban railway routes, including route 2A Cat Linh - Ha Dong and route 3. 1 Nhon - Hanoi station (elevated section).
The implementation time is 7 days, divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 lasts 3 days, from April 25 to the end of April 27, 2026 (during the Hung Kings Commemoration Festival holiday). Phase 2 lasts 4 days, from April 30 to the end of May 3, 2026 (during the Victory Day holiday April 30 and International Labor Day May 1).
The subjects of application are all passengers using services on subsidized bus routes and the 2 urban railway routes mentioned above.
Regarding the form of implementation, for buses, passengers are issued turn tickets (paper tickets) according to the denomination of the route but do not have to pay. For routes that are piloting electronic tickets, passengers are issued electronic turn tickets through POS machines.
For urban railways, passengers are issued 0-dong tickets according to their trip needs at the counter or register for 0-dong tickets on Hanoi Metro's applications.
Priority subjects according to Resolution No. 07/2019/NQ-HĐND dated July 10, 2019 of the Hanoi City People's Council, the elderly, passengers using monthly tickets, priority cards still present according to regulations when participating in the service.
Hanoi City People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and direct the City Traffic Management and Operation Center, public passenger transport units by subsidized bus and Hanoi Railway Co., Ltd. to implement the plan, ensuring safety, smoothness, efficiency, and serving well the travel needs of people and tourists.
At the same time, departments and branches including Culture and Sports, Tourism, Science and Technology and People's Committees of communes and wards strengthen propaganda and dissemination of the free ticket policy to people and tourists; coordinate to ensure order, traffic safety, and urban order at stops, bus shelters and urban railway station areas.
According to Mr. Thai Ho Phuong - Director of the Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center, exempting fares for using public passenger transport during holidays is a practical activity, showing the concern of city leaders for people's lives.
This policy contributes to creating favorable conditions for people and tourists to travel, visit, and shop during the holidays; and at the same time promotes building a modern, civilized, and environmentally friendly image of the Capital, thereby contributing to reducing traffic congestion and improving the quality of life of people.
