In the past time, VEAM Trade Union has been the "core" leading the emulation movement, arousing the creativity of employees in joint ventures.

Large scale, FDI labor force dominates

In the context of increasingly competitive industrial production, the role of trade union organizations is not only limited to caring for and protecting the rights of workers but also becomes the core force in launching and organizing emulation movements, directly contributing to improving productivity, quality and production and business efficiency.

At Vietnam Engine and Agricultural Machinery Corporation (VEAM), the Corporation's Trade Union has clearly shown this role, especially in the joint venture enterprise sector with foreign investment (FDI).

VEAM Trade Union currently has 24 member units with a total of more than 14,250 workers. Among them, there are 6 foreign-invested units, including: Honda Vietnam Company, Toyota Vietnam Company, Ford Vietnam Company, Vietnam Suzuki Company, Auto Mekong Company and Viet Nhat Mechanical Company, with a total of 9,840 workers, accounting for 71% of the total workforce of VEAM Corporation; the main occupation is trading and assembling cars and motorbikes of all kinds.

Mr. Mai Manh Dung - Chairman of VEAM Trade Union said that every year, emulation movements launched by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade have been concretized into action programs by the General Director and the Corporation's Trade Union. On that basis, the units deploy and are enthusiastically responded to by the majority of officials, employees and workers.

According to Mr. Mai Manh Dung, emulation movements always closely follow the goal of "Productivity, quality and efficiency"; thereby contributing to improving the efficiency of production and business activities. The movements "Good labor, creative labor"; "Green, clean, beautiful, ensuring OSH" have helped limit and prevent labor accidents and fires and explosions in enterprises. Thanks to that, the targets set annually have been excellently completed.

The Trade Union of FDI units has coordinated with professional leaders to have many solutions to encourage and motivate workers to boldly promote the spirit of creative labor and continuous improvement. In 2025 alone, there were over 54,395 technical innovations. In which, Toyota Vietnam Company has 30,000 improvements, the bonus for this activity is over 60 million VND; Honda Vietnam Company has 22,305 innovations with a total bonus of 311 million VND; Ford Vietnam Company has 2,090 innovations, with a profit value of nearly 8.7 billion VND, bonus of 50 million VND...

In addition to the initiatives that companies have recognized and implemented, the units also support suppliers to promote the spirit of creative labor and continuous improvement. In 2025, Honda Vietnam Company, together with suppliers, has improved processes, reduced costs and prices, saved time, with a total profit value of 22 billion VND. With highly profitable initiatives, the company has been sent to report in the region, at the group and applied throughout the system" - Chairman of VEAM Trade Union shared.

Promoting communication work

According to VEAM Trade Union Chairman Mai Manh Dung, in order for the movement to promote initiatives and technical improvements to achieve high results, from the beginning, the Program Steering Committee of units, especially units with foreign direct investment (FDI), must show determination, focus on directing, urging, inspecting, and supervising the implementation of the program; specifically assign tasks associated with responsibilities to each related department.

Along with that, it is necessary to promote communication for the program; propagate about the purpose, meaning, new models, creative ways of doing things, typical stories and initiatives; focus on social networking platforms close to union members and workers.

At the same time, it is necessary to create support and consensus in coordination, creating conditions for heads of agencies, units and employers in enterprises.

In addition, it is necessary to promote the role of the Grassroots Initiative Support Group to guide and help union members participate in submitting initiatives; manage, summarize and implement initiative management tasks to promptly advise, urge, guide and effectively implement.
