Can Tho Electronic Information Portal recently continued to update information that the People's Committee of Can Tho City has issued an official dispatch on coordination to send the dossier of the Project on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units to the People's Councils at the commune and district levels for consideration and comments. This document was sent to the People's Committee of Soc Trang province and the People's Committee of Hau Giang province.

Based on the consensus of the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Soc Trang and Hau Giang Provincial Party Committees; comments and consensus on the content of the Project of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province, the People's Committee of Hau Giang province, relevant agencies, units and localities and the results of collecting voters' opinions in the area, the People's Committee of Can Tho City has completed the dossier of the Project on the arrangement of provincial administrative units.
According to the Proposal on the Project on arranging provincial-level administrative units of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Can Tho City under the Central Government was established on the basis of merging administrative units of Soc Trang province, Hau Giang province and Can Tho City.

The number of administrative units is 103, including 31 wards and 72 communes.
