Agree to buy 50 narrow-body aircraft

PHẠM ĐÔNG (báo lao động) 30/04/2025 08:10 (GMT+7)

The Deputy Prime Minister agreed to the policy of purchasing narrow-body aircraft of Vietnam Airlines Corporation to enhance exploitation capacity and modernize the flight fleet.

On April 29, the Government Office announced that it had just issued Document No. 3695/VPCP-CN conveying the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc on the narrow-body aircraft investment project of Vietnam Airlines Corporation (VNA).

Accordingly, the Deputy Prime Minister agreed to the policy of buying aircraft without a Government guarantee. The Deputy Prime Minister assigned VNA to take full responsibility according to the provisions of law.

According to the Government Portal, within the fleet development strategy for the 2025-2035 period, with a vision to 2040, the plan to invest in 50 narrow-body aircraft is one of the important pillars to help VNA increase exploitation capacity, modernize the fleet and expand the scale of operations.

This investment is aimed at expanding the short- and medium-range flight network in key markets such as Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia and inland - where transportation demand is increasing rapidly and competition is increasing.

At the same time, it contributes to improving exploitation efficiency, saving fuel, reducing emissions and realizing the long-term sustainable development goals of the National Airline.

The increase in the narrow-body fleet also helps VNA improve operational flexibility, while bringing more product and service options to passengers.
