National Assembly secret ballot to elect Chairman of the 16th National Assembly
National Assembly deputies proceed to elect the Chairman of the 16th National Assembly by secret ballot.
On the morning of April 6, 2026, at the National Assembly House, according to the program of the First Session, the 16th National Assembly, National Assembly deputies proceeded to elect the 16th National Assembly Chairman by secret ballot.
Also this morning, the 15th National Assembly Standing Committee submitted to the National Assembly the number of members of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the draft Resolution on the number of members of the 16th National Assembly Standing Committee for the National Assembly to discuss before voting for approval.
The 15th National Assembly Standing Committee then submitted a list of nominations for the National Assembly to elect the Chairman of the National Assembly, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, and Member of the 16th National Assembly Standing Committee.
This list will be approved by the National Assembly before delegates vote. The election of the National Assembly Chairman is conducted by secret ballot.
After that, the National Assembly will vote to approve the draft Resolution to elect the National Assembly Chairman by electronic voting system.
After being elected, the Chairman of the 16th National Assembly performs the oath-taking ceremony and delivers the inauguration speech.
In the afternoon of the same day, the National Assembly will elect the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and members of the National Assembly Standing Committee. The National Assembly also elects the Chairman of the Ethnic Council, the Chairman of the National Assembly Committee, the State Auditor General, the Secretary General of the National Assembly - Chairman of the National Assembly Office.
