Hanoi - Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company plans to increase more than 600 vehicles to serve the travel needs of people during the April 30 - May 1 holiday.
On the afternoon of April 15, a representative of Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company informed that the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year will last for 5 days, predicting that people's travel demand will increase dramatically. To ensure the best service for passengers, the company has planned to increase means of transportation at major bus stations in the city.
At Giap Bat bus station, the highest expected passenger volume will fall on the afternoons of April 29 and April 30, about 20,000 trips/day, an increase of more than 350% compared to normal days. The number of vehicles increased to about 900 per day. This is a station with many short-distance routes, passengers travel mainly during the day, concentrated on the routes from Hanoi to Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa.
At Gia Lam bus station, the peak number of passengers is expected to reach about 8,000/day, an increase of 300% compared to normal days, with about 400 vehicles/day, mainly on Hai Phong and Quang Ninh routes.
At My Dinh bus station, the number of passengers on peak days is estimated at about 22,000 per day, an increase of more than 350% compared to normal days. The number of trips is expected to exceed 950 trips/day.
Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company said that the increased number of vehicles will focus on long routes such as Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Son La, Lai Chau, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang... Passengers on these routes often travel in the afternoon and night of April 29, as well as day and night of April 30.
In total, the unit has planned to increase 625 vehicles at three stations: Giap Bat Bus Station: an increase of 262 vehicles; Gia Lam Bus Station: an increase of 83 vehicles; My Dinh Bus Station: an increase of 280 vehicles.
The number of vehicles will be flexibly distributed per day, per route, depending on the actual number of passengers. The company has also proposed that the Hanoi Department of Construction issue about 350 stamps and badges for enhanced vehicles to ensure compliance with regulations.
In addition, to ensure convenient and safe travel for people, the company has developed a backup plan such as signing contracts with vehicle rental units, arranging vehicles ready to release passengers in emergency situations when vehicles are not strengthened enough or the vehicles on the route are delayed due to traffic congestion.
The company also strengthens operations, ensures security, order, traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting, environmental sanitation, etc. At the same time, tightening inspection and supervision of the implementation of transportation regulations, passenger service quality, resolutely not allowing overloaded vehicles to occur, collecting tickets higher than the prescribed price.
