Voters have opinions, add localities to adjust commune-level names after the arrangement

On April 21, Mr. Thai Van Thanh - Chairman of Vinh Linh District People's Committee confirmed that the locality had organized a public consultation on the name of commune-level administrative units after the arrangement.

The plan proposed by the People's Committee of Vinh Linh district is to take the name "Vinh Linh" with the consecutive numbers, including: Vinh Linh 1 (incorporating Ho Xa town, Vinh Long, Vinh Chap); Vinh Linh 2 (incorporating Cua Tung town, Vinh Giang, Hien Thanh, Kim Thach); Vinh Linh 3 (incorporating Vinh Thai, Trung Nam, Vinh Hoa, Vinh Tu); Vinh Linh 4 (incorporating Vinh Thuy, Vinh Lam, Vinh Son); Vinh Linh 5 (incorporating Vinh O, Vinh Ha, Vinh Khe, Ben Quan town).

Through collecting opinions, many voters initially thought that it was necessary to name the communes after the arrangement to promote the historical elements of the land "Luy Thien - Luy Hoa". Therefore, the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee and the People's Committee of Vinh Linh District agreed to propose adjusting the names of new commune administrative units according to the principle of inheriting the meaningful names that our ancestors have used in the past and promoting their current value.

Accordingly, Vinh Linh 1 commune will be changed to Vinh Linh commune; Vinh Linh 2 commune will be changed to Vinh Tung commune; Vinh Linh 3 commune will be changed to Vinh Hoang commune; Vinh Linh 4 commune will be changed to Vinh Duc or Vinh Thuy commune; Vinh Linh 5 commune will be changed to Vinh Quan or Vinh Khe commune.

"The district has sent a document to the People's Committees of communes and towns requesting to collect voters' opinions on the names of commune-level administrative units after the new adjustment mentioned above and will be completed on April 21" - Mr. Thai Van Thanh said.

Similarly, Gio Linh District People's Committee also adjusted the name of the new commune-level administrative unit after the arrangement when voters had opinions.

Mr. Vo Dac Hoa, Chairman of Gio Linh District People's Committee, said that after the arrangement of Gio Linh district, there are 4 communes, and the locality plans to name 4 communes: Tay Gio Linh (merging Hai Thai commune, Linh Truong, Gio An, Gio Son); Dong Gio Linh (merging Gio Mai commune, Gio Hai, Cua Viet town); Gio Linh (merging Gio Quang commune, Gio My, Phong Binh, Gio Linh town); Bac Gio Linh (merging Trung Hai commune, Trung Giang, Trung Son).

When collecting opinions, voters were interested, so the District Party Committee and the District People's Committee agreed to propose an additional plan for commune-level names. Accordingly, Tay Gio Linh commune has the name of option 2 as Con Tien commune; Dong Gio Linh commune has the name of option 2 as Cua Viet commune; Bac Gio Linh commune has the name of option 2 as Ben Hai commune; Gio Linh commune remains the same.

Currently, Gio Linh District People's Committee has implemented the collection of voters' opinions on the two above-mentioned options.

Previously, on April 20, the People's Committee of Trieu Phong district (Quang Tri province) also adjusted the commune-level name after arranging from number to place name, in line with voters' wishes.
