Ca Mau and Bac Lieu will discuss merging the two provinces on April 17
Ca Mau - It is expected that on April 17, the Standing Committee of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee will meet with the Standing Committee of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee to discuss a specific plan to merge the two provinces.
At the press conference and press conference for the first quarter of 2025 organized by Ca Mau province on the afternoon of April 15, Mr. Ho Trung Viet - Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee - informed that the merger of Bac Lieu province and Ca Mau province is being prepared by the two localities. It is expected that on April 17, the Standing Committee of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee will invite the Standing Committee of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee to meet in Ca Mau to agree on the merged contents.
Regarding the arrangement of commune-level administrative units (eliminate district, town and city levels under the province), Ca Mau province is urgently carrying out related work, reviewing planning, on the field, and planning plans according to the Central Government's plan. Ca Mau currently has 100 communes, wards and towns. It is expected that the arrangement plan will have 30 to 40 communes and wards.
According to regulations, the Central Government shall report by May 1, 2025 at the latest. It is expected that after the arrangement of commune-level units, Ca Mau province will have 39 communes and wards.
According to Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW of the 11th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee, Bac Lieu province and Ca Mau province are expected to be merged, named Ca Mau province, the political and administrative center located in the current Ca Mau province.
