Ben Tre plans to reduce to 48 communes and wards after the reorganization

On April 15, the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee held an extraordinary conference to give opinions on the Project on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in Ben Tre province.

At the conference, representatives of the Department of Home Affairs presented a proposal to seek opinions on the Project on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in the province.

Accordingly, for the arrangement of commune-level administrative units, Ben Tre province will merge 148 communes and wards, reducing to 48 communes and wards (reducing 100 administrative units). Of which, there are 43 communes and 5 wards, reaching the rate of 67.56%.

At the conference, delegates gave their opinions on the content of the submission; at the same time, they said that the policy of arranging administrative units at the provincial and commune levels aims to create space for development. In the process of merging administrative units, it is necessary not to change the names too much, it is necessary to ensure historical and cultural factors... to create consensus among the people.

Concluding the conference, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the People's Council of Ben Tre province Ho Thi Hoang Yen said that the arrangement of commune-level administrative units aims to create favorable conditions for socio-economic development, improve the material and spiritual life of the people and facilitate state management in the locality.

Ben Tre Provincial Party Secretary Ho Thi Hoang Yen requested the Standing Committees of District Party Committees and City Party Committees to direct agencies to coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs of Ben Tre province to collect public opinions on the content of the arrangement of administrative units at the provincial and commune levels, to be completed no later than April 17. Direct the organization of a meeting of the People's Council at the commune level before April 19, organize a meeting of the People's Council at the district level before April 22 to approve the policy of arranging commune-level administrative units and report to the Standing Agency of the Provincial Steering Committee, so that on April 26, the Provincial People's Council will approve the Project on arranging provincial and commune-level administrative units.

The Provincial Party Secretary requested the Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee to coordinate with relevant Party committees, agencies and units to advise the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee in developing a Project to merge provincial-level administrative units according to regulations. At the same time, research and advise on the development of a plan to arrange and assign cadres and civil servants at the provincial, district and commune levels to operate smoothly starting from July 1.

The Provincial Party Committee Office shall preside over and coordinate with Party committees, units and localities to conduct inspections, reviews, guidance and propose to competent authorities to complete the digitization of documents of Party committees, agencies and organizations before reorganizing administrative units; ensure the management and use of public assets economically and effectively according to regulations.
