Establish a lottery ticket sales union to care for vulnerable workers
Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh My Tay Ward has just established a lottery ticket selling union to protect informal and vulnerable workers in the area.
On May 29, Thanh My Tay Ward Trade Union organized a ceremony to admit trade union members and award the decision to establish the Lottery Ticket Trading Union in the ward. This event is one of the key activities to respond to the 18th Workers' Month in 2026.
Currently, in Thanh My Tay ward, there are many workers working as lottery ticket sellers. Most of the workers are freelancers, with unstable incomes, and difficult living conditions; some cases are elderly people, people in difficult circumstances, who need to be cared for, shared and supported promptly.
From that reality, the mobilization to establish the Lottery Ticket Trade Union is necessary to gather and unite workers in the same industry; create conditions for workers to have representative organizations, to be listened to their thoughts and aspirations, to be cared for their lives and to protect their legitimate and lawful rights and interests.
Through the review and propaganda process from the Ward Trade Union in coordination with the Fatherland Front Committees of neighborhoods, 70 freelance lottery ticket sellers voluntarily signed applications to join the organization.

Representing 70 union members, at the ceremony, Ms. Pham Thi Thu Van expressed her excitement that from now on, freelance workers have a representative organization to accompany and support each other in life.
To support operating conditions for the Trade Union in the initial stage, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Thanh, Chairwoman of Thanh My Tay Ward Trade Union, presented a board of operating expense support worth 3,000,000 VND. Along with that, this model is expected to help local authorities promptly grasp the thoughts, protect legitimate rights and encourage workers to well comply with the law.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee and philanthropists also directly presented meaningful gifts to union members selling lottery tickets in difficult circumstances. The companionship of philanthropists and the Trade Union organization not only brings practical material values but also spreads the spirit of compassion, adding motivation to hard-working lives.
