Hai Phong opens peak period for union member development, covering trade unions in units from 10 workers
Hai Phong - In the afternoon of July 10, Hai Phong City Labor Federation launched the peak month of union member development and establishment of grassroots trade unions.
In July, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) organized the "Peak Month for developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions (CĐCS), introducing outstanding trade union members for the Party to consider fostering and admitting" to practically celebrate the 97th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2026).
According to the plan, trade union levels focus on implementing 5 key task groups. In which, priority is given to general review, update and digitize union member data, ensuring 100% of data after review is synchronized to the "Huong Cong - Hai Phong Trade Union" application, contributing to improving management efficiency, caring for and implementing welfare policies for union members.
In parallel with that, units are required to focus resources on developing increased union members, establishing grassroots trade unions at enterprises without trade union organizations; continue to mobilize workers to join trade unions at enterprises that have established grassroots trade unions. In particular, the City Labor Federation requests to review, propagate, and mobilize the establishment of grassroots trade unions at enterprises that have paid trade union fees but do not have trade union organizations, initially focusing decisively on groups with 10 or more workers (through review, there are 259 units with a total of 5,298 workers).
Trade union levels also strengthen coordination with local Party committees and authorities to detect and train outstanding union members, especially direct production workers and trade union officials with outstanding achievements, and introduce them to the Party for consideration and admission. After the end of the peak month, units will organize assessments, commendation, and rewards for collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements.
According to a report by the City Labor Federation, as of July 10, the whole city has newly established 482/210 grassroots trade unions, reaching 230% of the assigned target; newly developed 23,539 union members. After deducting the reduced number of union members, the actual number of union members increased to more than 36,000 people (about 60% of the annual plan). In addition, trade union levels have introduced 1,141 outstanding union members for the Party to consider, of which 340 people were admitted to the Party.
