Ho Chi Minh City - Nearly 200 trade union officials were trained in food safety knowledge, thereby tightening supervision to protect the safety of meals for workers.

On July 15, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation coordinated with the Department of Food Safety to organize training and fostering food safety knowledge for city trade union officials. The conference was attended by nearly 200 trainees including trade union officials from export processing zones, industrial parks, and enterprises with 5,000 or more workers.

Speaking at the opening, Mr. Phung Thai Quang - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - emphasized that with a scale of more than 22,000 grassroots trade unions and more than 2.4 million union members under the management of the Labor Federation, the number of collective kitchens in the city is currently very large. Food safety is a key component that constitutes the quality of lunch meals, directly affecting labor productivity, workers' health and the sustainable development of enterprises.

From the training content, working side by side with the collective kitchen management team will help trade union officials become active propagandists to solve the food safety problem at industrial kitchens. This not only helps control the quality of workers' meals but also accompanies the city in the campaign to transparently source food throughout the area.
