Lam Dong Labor Union develops union members in non-state enterprises

Lam Dong - The Provincial Federation of Labor is changing the way of propaganda and mobilization to develop union members and grassroots unions in non-state enterprises.

In the period of 2023-2025, Lam Dong Provincial Federation of Labor (LDLD) has actually increased the number of union members by more than 30,670, reaching 82.37% of the assigned target, bringing the total number of union members in the province to 175,598 people.

Recently, the Provincial Federation of Labor has established 3 grassroots unions with 105 union members after a period of propaganda, mobilization and working with enterprises.

This is a remarkable result in the context of many fluctuations in the labor market, businesses continuously adjusting production scale.

However, reality shows that the development of union members and the establishment of grassroots unions are still not commensurate with the potential.

On January 14, Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoang - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial Federation of Labor - said that the Lam Dong Provincial Federation of Labor currently directly manages more than 950 grassroots unions with nearly 90,000 union members.

Workers' awareness of the role of trade unions has had many positive changes. Workers are increasingly interested in joining trade unions to protect their legitimate rights, especially issues of wages, working conditions, social insurance and welfare regimes.

In addition, many enterprises have expanded production, increased the number of employees, and created favorable conditions for the establishment of grassroots unions.

However, the investigation, survey of enterprises and grasp of the situation of workers in some areas are not close to reality.

The updating of the list of enterprises without trade unions is still slow, causing propaganda and mobilization activities to develop union members to not be highly effective and not reach the target labor group.

The Organization - Inspection Department under the Trade Union Work Committee (Lam Dong Provincial Federation of Labor) said that, in response to the requirements set for the 2025-2030 period, Lam Dong Provincial Federation of Labor determined that developing union members must be associated with improving the quality of union members and the effectiveness of grassroots trade union activities. The focus is on the non-state enterprise sector.

Therefore, the Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to innovate the content and form of propaganda in a concise and easy-to-understand direction, focusing on clarifying the practical benefits of workers and employers when there is a trade union organization.

At the same time, perfect the team of cadres working on developing union members, directly supporting grassroots unions in the process of mobilizing, establishing and stabilizing the organization.

Along with that, Lam Dong Provincial Federation of Labor will increase training on skills for trade union officials, promote dialogue, collective bargaining, and build harmonious labor relations in enterprises.

When grassroots trade unions truly accompany and solve problems of concern to workers, the trade union organization will become a fulcrum, attracting workers to participate sustainably in the new situation.
