Listening to the people to play a good role in supervision and social criticism
Discussion center No. 2 has the theme: The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and member organizations strengthen listening to people's voices, play a good role in supervision and social criticism, representing and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of the people.
Presiding over the discussion session were Mr. Nguyen Phi Long, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central Agencies, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term X; Mr. Luong Quoc Doan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term X, Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Union. Attending were delegates representing 13 member organizations.
Speaking to lead the discussion, Mr. Nguyen Phi Long affirmed that social supervision and criticism activities must be considered a regular, central and continuous task of the Fatherland Front work in the coming time.
Regarding the requirement to strengthen listening to the people in the new period, Mr. Nguyen Phi Long requested delegates to propose solutions and methods for the Vietnam Fatherland Front to promptly grasp reflections of thoughts and aspirations, issues of concern to the people in the context of multi-dimensional information, strong digital transformation, increasingly high requirements for democracy, transparency and accountability.
Speaking in his presentation, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City affirmed that in the past time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City has seriously implemented the work of listening to the people, supervising and criticizing society, representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the people and has achieved positive results.
However, listening to people's opinions in some places is not really proactive; supervision and social criticism activities are increasingly quality, methodical but not uniform...
Mr. Tuan proposed strongly innovating operating methods, diversifying forms of listening to the People; improving the capacity and bravery of the Fatherland Front cadre team; promoting the subjective role of the People in supervision, social criticism, representing and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of the people.
Mr. Vu Trong Kim - Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Former Youth Volunteers - said that the Political Report of the Congress needs to further clarify the strategic significance of the great national unity. Under the roof of the Fatherland Front, member organizations must be "deeply rooted, firmly rooted", promoting the role of alliance between workers, farmers, intellectuals, businesses and social strata.
Ms. Do Thi Hien - Chairwoman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Labor Federation - said that in the past time, the Trade Union organization has played a good role in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights of workers, especially through dialogue and collective negotiation at the grassroots level.
She proposed that the Party and State pay more attention to social housing for workers to rent, cultural institutions serving workers and appropriate salary policies; and at the same time expects this Congress to create stronger and more drastic changes for the people, union members, association members and the development of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and member organizations.
