Russian tourist sends thank you letter to police after the theft on Nha Trang beach
Khanh Hoa - After being quickly investigated and recovered stolen property by Nha Trang Ward Police, a Russian tourist sent a thank you letter.
On the afternoon of May 16, Lieutenant Colonel Dao Xuan Truong - Head of Nha Trang Ward Police said that the unit had just received a thank-you letter from Ms. Albrandt Kristina (born in 1983, Russian nationality) and her husband, Mr. Andrey Sushchenko, after the incident of property loss while traveling in the locality.
According to the letter, on May 8, while swimming in the sea in the area opposite No. 2 Le Loi street, Nha Trang ward, Mrs. Kristina and her husband left property on the sand beach including a white iPhone 12 and a Redmi Note 14 phone.
Taking advantage of tourists' carelessness, subject Le Hung Cuong (born 1980, residing in Phu Thanh residential group, Tay Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province) approached, stole two phones and then took them to sell to get money to spend.
On May 12, during a patrol in the Thanh Nien Park area, the task force of Nha Trang Ward Police discovered and caught Le Hung Cuong red-handed committing another property theft.
Through struggle, the subject confessed to all previous criminal acts, including the theft of two phones of a Russian tourist couple.
From the documents and evidence collected, Nha Trang Ward Police recovered all assets including a white iPhone 12 phone and a Redmi Note 14 phone to return to the victim.
In a letter to the police force, Ms. Albrandt Kristina expressed her emotion at the quick and dedicated support of the officers and soldiers.
Thanks to the quick action and dedication of the police officers, the stolen phones were returned to us safely in the shortest possible time.
Those efforts not only help solve the problem but also leave a very good impression on the Vietnamese police force and the Vietnamese people," Ms. Kristina wrote in her thank you letter.
According to Nha Trang Ward Police, Le Hung Cuong is a person without a stable job, often wandering in the Tran Phu beach area to take advantage of the loopholes of people and tourists to commit property theft.
The incident is assessed as a timely action of functional forces in ensuring security and order in tourist areas, contributing to creating a safe and friendly image for international tourists when coming to Khanh Hoa.
