More than 90% of female workers achieve the title "Two Goods

Da Nang Hospital currently has nearly 2,000 trade union members, of which women account for about 70%. This is a force directly involved in medical examination and treatment, patient care and plays an important role in operating the entire professional activities of the hospital.

Unlike many other professions, female health workers often have to work in high-intensity environments, regularly on night duty, emergency duty, exposed to great psychological pressure and the risk of disease infection. After each long shift, many people continue to return to the role of mother and wife in the family.

Therefore, the implementation of the movement "Good at state affairs, good at housework" at the Da Nang Hospital Trade Union is always determined to follow a substantive direction, suitable to the specific characteristics of the profession.

According to Ms. Truong Pham Hoang Quyen - representative of the Da Nang Hospital Trade Union, for many years, the Hospital Trade Union Women's Committee has focused on integrating the emulation movement with studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style; and at the same time associated with the campaign "Innovating the style and attitude of medical staff towards patient satisfaction".

Not only stopping at propaganda activities, the trade union also regularly organizes many activities to care for the spiritual life of female union members such as ao dai contests, art performances, flower arranging, picnics, specialized activities on March 8th, October 20th or Vietnamese Family Day.

These activities help many female health workers have more space to relax after work pressure, and at the same time create cohesion among union members in the unit.

It is noteworthy that the movement "Good at state affairs, good at housework" has contributed to creating an environment for female union members to develop their expertise. Every year, over 90% of female workers, civil servants, and laborers of the hospital achieve the title of "Two Goods". Many female union members actively participate in scientific research, have technical innovation initiatives, study to improve their professional qualifications and are planned and appointed to management and leadership positions in departments and rooms.

Need more policies to share pressure for female workers

Despite achieving many positive results, the reality of implementing the movement in the hospital environment also shows many difficulties.

According to representatives of the Da Nang Hospital Trade Union, the special nature of 24/24 hour duty makes many female doctors face a lot of pressure in balancing work and family. Some people have just finished their night shift and are already busy taking care of young children, elderly parents or family matters.

The criterion of doing housework sometimes inadvertently adds a double burden to women if society still defaults to taking care of the family as the main responsibility of women" - Ms. Truong Pham Hoang Quyen said.

This reality shows that, along with launching emulation movements, more policies are needed to share pressure with female workers in the health sector.

From practical operations at the unit, the Da Nang Hospital Trade Union has proposed many notable solutions such as strengthening mental health care for female workers; organizing free gynecological cancer screening; supporting life balance skills and building happy families.

In particular, the trade union also proposed to study raising the level of hazardous duty allowances, supporting overtime childcare costs for female health workers participating in night duty or prolonged surgeries. These are considered very practical proposals with the current professional characteristics.

In addition, strengthening the application of digital technology in women's activities, creating more forums to share experiences and replicate effective models is also considered a necessary direction for the movement to continue to adapt to the new context.

In the medical industry, where patients face pressure and survival every day, female doctors and nurses are still quietly keeping the rhythm of love with their dedication and responsibility.

And for them to continue to be "good at state affairs, good at housework", more substantive mechanisms and policies are needed to share pressure and help them feel secure in sticking with the profession for a long time.
