Trade unions get involved to help 1,450 workers ensure their rights

Near Tet, workers are suspended from collective work

The Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor has just started supporting workers affected by the work stoppage at S.L.F Company (Bau Xeo Industrial Park, Trang Bom Commune, Dong Nai Province) with about 1,450 workers.

In the petition, the collective of employees working at S.L.F Company sent to the Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor said that they encountered many difficulties in life due to having to stop working for many days but their rights were not guaranteed.

Worker Le Anh (name changed) shared: As a worker far from home, hoping for the upcoming Tet holiday at the family side, but currently she and many other workers have stopped working, their salaries are not guaranteed, causing many difficulties in life due to having to worry about food, school fees for children as well as having to worry about family daily expenses.

Immediately after receiving the incident, the Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor chaired the coordination with the authorities of Dong Nai province and Trang Bom commune to work directly with the company, exchanging and receiving questions and concerns from workers.

At the meeting, the company representative said that due to difficulties, the company agreed with employees to take unpaid leave, but the employees did not agree. The company agreed to pay 50% of the regional minimum wage, but the company has not notified the workers.

The working group requested the company to comply with the provisions of the law in Clause 3, Article 99 of the Labor Code and at the same time, terminate the transfer of employees without signed labor contracts.

After working with the working group, the business representative committed to comply with the provisions of law in Clause 3, Article 99 of the Labor Code - paying the salary for the first 14 days of work stoppage according to regulations and committing not to transfer the employee's job position (not to transfer the employee compared to the signed labor contract).

After that, S.L.F Company issued a notice to pay the regional minimum wage to employees during unpaid leave days, in December 2025, January 2026 and February 2026 at VND 4,960,000 and VND 5,310,000.

Workers thank the union

Immediately after Dong Nai Trade Union and Dong Nai authorities stepped in to resolve the issue and ensure their rights, workers wrote a letter of thanks to the trade union.

Ms. Thu Phuong (name changed) - a worker at S.L.F Company said: "Thanks to the Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor's participation, the workers have received their salary for quitting their jobs. All workers thank the Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Dai - Member of the Standing Committee - Deputy Head of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks - Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor - was the presiding over the working session with the company representative on the workers' petition for help said: After working with the company representative, the interdisciplinary working group continued to wait from morning to afternoon (January 15.) for the company to notify all employees about the salary suspension in accordance with the provisions of law, the estimated amount of money that workers received was more than 4 billion VND.

According to Mr. Dai, in response to the difficulties of workers, the Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor has proposed to support and allocate 100 gifts (worth 1 million VND/gift) to union members and workers who have to take a long day off work at S.L.F company, so that workers can overcome the current difficult period, especially when the Lunar New Year of Binh Ngo in 2026 is approaching.
