Vinh Long develops more than 2,200 participations in social insurance and health insurance at the beginning of May 2026

May 2026 was chosen as "Month of mobilization and deployment of universal social insurance" with the theme "Social insurance - Lifelong social security fulcrum". The activity was implemented simultaneously throughout Vinh Long province by the Provincial Social Insurance in coordination with the Provincial Post Office.

According to the Provincial Social Insurance, 2026 is of special significance when the 2024 Social Insurance Law officially enters life with many new regulations in the direction of expanding benefits and increasing opportunities to access social security policies for people.

To date, the health insurance coverage rate of the whole province has reached over 97% of the population. The number of people participating in social insurance continues to increase year by year. The work of administrative procedure reform, digital transformation and serving people is increasingly improving in efficiency.

During the implementation of the All-People Social Insurance Mobilization Month, units organized nearly 450 small groups to directly go to each household to propagate, advise and mobilize people to participate in voluntary social insurance and household health insurance.

Through propaganda activities at the beginning of May, the whole province has newly developed 1,258 people participating in voluntary social insurance. At the same time, 142 more people continue to maintain the voluntary social insurance contribution level according to current regulations.

For household health insurance, the whole province recorded 92 new participants and 102 people renewing health insurance cards. Localities focused on direct propaganda to help people understand the benefits and policies they are entitled to.

For compulsory social insurance alone, the whole province mobilized 218 business households to participate in compulsory social insurance and added 393 workers at labor-using units to participate according to current regulations.

Thus, at the beginning of May, the whole province had developed an additional 2,205 turns of people participating in voluntary social insurance, household health insurance and compulsory social insurance, creating positive changes in the work of developing insurance participants.

Mr. Pham Minh Duong - Director of Provincial Social Insurance - said that social insurance and health insurance are two pillar policies of the social security system, contributing to stabilizing people's lives and promoting local socio-economic development.

According to Mr. Duong, although many positive results have been achieved, there are still many freelancers, small traders and small businesses that have not participated in social insurance and health insurance, requiring propaganda work to continue to innovate towards being closer to the people.

All propaganda forces need to promote the spirit of proactiveness and creativity, focusing on direct mobilization in small groups so that people understand correctly and fully the rights and long-term meaning when participating in social insurance and health insurance," Mr. Duong emphasized.

Being propagated by social insurance officials and collection agents right at home, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh in Thanh Duc ward said that she understands more about the benefits of participating in voluntary social insurance, so she decided to participate to have a retirement pension.
