Vietnam continues to send officers to participate in peacekeeping in the Central African Republic

On the afternoon of February 26, the Ministry of National Defense organized the handover of the President's Decision to officers to perform UN peacekeeping missions in the Central African Republic.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the Inter-sectoral Working Group, Head of the Ministry of National Defense Steering Committee for Participation in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) - chaired the ceremony.

In this deployment, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoang Long, Lecturer of Foreign Languages Department, Department of Reconnaissance, National Defense Academy, was assigned to replace Major Nguyen Anh Tuan to take on the position of Chief of Staff of Intelligence (SO ISR) at MINUSCA Mission (Central African Republic).

According to Major General Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam PKO Department, to do a good job of preparing replacement personnel, the Vietnam PKO Department has selected officials to ensure that they meet the requirements in terms of professional capacity, military qualifications, training and training in UN PKO knowledge, foreign language proficiency and good health. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoang Long has completed training courses as required by the United Nations.

Speaking to assign tasks, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang requested Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoang Long to pay attention to ensuring absolute safety throughout his term of office in the context of the security situation at the MINUSCA Mission recently having complex and unpredictable developments.

At the same time, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoang Long must always be sensitive and firmly grasp the situation to have information and advice to guide the activities of the Mission; thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the Party's guidelines and policies, State laws, military discipline as well as regulations of the United Nations, the Mission and laws of the host country.

Inheriting the tradition of the heroic Vietnam People's Army, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang requested Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoang Long to maintain standard working style, words and actions, show a sense of responsibility, proactively learn and cooperate with international colleagues, confidently show bravery and professional capacity, thereby spreading the good qualities of the Vietnam People's Army, of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers", as well as the image of the country and people of Vietnam to the people, local authorities, colleagues and international friends.

Ready to set off to perform the UN PKO mission with the most excited and determined spirit, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoang Long affirmed that he will maintain internal and international solidarity, determined to excellently complete the tasks assigned by the UN and the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense; strictly comply with the laws of the State and the host country, military discipline, and regulations of the UN; regularly study and assess the situation, promptly handle situations when performing tasks, and ensure absolute safety for people and equipment.
