Vietnam team enters world top 100
On the evening of March 31, FIFA updated the rankings, the Vietnamese team increased by 9.67 points to 1,225.67 points, rising to 98th position.
Returning to the world top 100 is considered an important milestone for the Vietnamese team in its journey to reaffirm its position in the region and continent. Previously, the Vietnamese team maintained its ranking in the world group of 100 under coach Park Hang-seo.
Under the guidance of coach Kim Sang-sik, the Vietnamese team is showing stability in form. After the ASEAN Cup 2024 championship, the team continues to win tickets to the Asian Cup 2027 finals with a perfect record in Group F, thereby creating a positive foundation for the next development stage.
The Vietnamese team showed a superior game in the match against Malaysia at Thien Truong Stadium on the evening of March 31. In the 6th minute, center-back Do Duy Manh opened the score after Tien Anh's corner kick, creating an early advantage for the home team.
In the second half, naturalized striker Nguyen Xuan Son shone with a double in the 51st and 59th minutes after favorable combinations with Hoang Hen and Tien Anh, helping the Vietnamese team firmly grasp the control of the match. Endrick's goal to narrow the score from the penalty spot in the 77th minute was only of honor for the away team, although Faisal Halim then tried to increase the pressure.
