The 16th National Assembly needs to continue to inherit and promote the achievements of previous terms

Today, April 6th, the First Session of the 16th National Assembly officially opens solemnly in Hanoi.

Speaking at the opening of the session, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term was a great success.

This is the result of a careful and thorough preparation process, methodical and professional organization, and the very high support and consensus of voters and people nationwide.

Along with the very good success of the 14th Party Congress and the 2nd Conference of the 14th Party Central Committee, the results of the Election continue to affirm the people's belief in the Party and State; and at the same time contribute to enhancing the image and prestige of Vietnam in the international arena.

The National Assembly Chairwoman said that in the context of the country facing many difficulties and challenges, the National Assembly has continuously made efforts, had many breakthrough innovations; innovated thinking in law-making; promoted the application of science and technology, innovation, digital parliament, artificial intelligence; affirmed the role of "going one step ahead in institutions", promptly removing bottlenecks, unlocking all resources for development; strengthening the effectiveness of supreme supervision activities, deciding important issues of the country and parliamentary diplomacy.

According to the National Assembly Chairwoman, our country after 40 years of renovation has achieved many important achievements, the economy has maintained high growth rates for many years; deeply integrated into the world economy, affirming its position and increasing prestige in the international arena; national defense and security have been maintained; people's lives have been increasingly improved.

Many strategic guidelines and decisions have been implemented synchronously and strongly, creating new development momentum and space; the adjustment of administrative boundaries, arrangement of the organizational structure of the political system and deployment of the two-level local government model in the direction of streamlining, efficiency, effectiveness, and efficiency, creating important changes in the organization and operation of the state apparatus.

To successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, the Politburo and the Secretariat have issued many resolutions and strategic conclusions on socio-economic development, building and perfecting the socialist rule-of-law state; innovating the organization and operation of the political system, promoting science, technology, innovation, national digital transformation, creating a foundation for the rapid and sustainable development of the country in the coming period.

Recently, Conclusion No. 18, dated April 2, 2026, the 2nd Conference of the 14th Party Central Committee on the Plan for socio-economic development, national finance and public debt borrowing and repayment, medium-term public investment for 5 years 2026-2030 associated with the implementation of the goal of striving for "double-digit" growth.
