The project to build the Bac Kan City - Ho Ba Be route started construction at the end of November 2021. The project has a scale of grade III and grade IV mountainous roads, with a design speed of 40km/h - 60km/h.
The starting point of the project is at Km 0+000 intersecting with National Highway 3B (Km 144+324) in Song Cau Ward, Bac Kan City. The end point is at Km 39+000 in the Hua Ma Cave area (on the Quang Khe - Nam Mau road in Quang Khe commune, Ba Be district).

Reported by PV, the route of Bac Kan City - Ba Be Lake has basically completed. The vehicles can move from the beginning of the route to the end of the route. The winding passes, the majestic scenery of the mountains make the most beautiful route rated in Bac Kan.
Mr. Le Nam Cao (Bac Kan City) said that the route is of great significance to local people. In addition to convenient travel, speed is also a driving force for developing tourism and goods circulation in the Ba Be area.
"The road helps connect Ba Be and neighboring localities conveniently, especially in the city area. People can go back to the city during the day.
The route has many beautiful viewing locations and majestic mountains, so every time I take my family to visit Ba Be, I stop to see the scenery. This season, the rice flowers blooming brilliantly add more beauty to the road," said Mr. Cao.
According to Mr. Trieu Hong Son - an officer of the Bac Kan Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the Bac Kan City - Ho Ba Be route is currently 98% complete. Some sections affected by natural disasters are being urgently repaired to be handed over in the second quarter of 2025.
Investing in the construction of the Bac Kan City - Ho Ba Be route helps synchronize traffic infrastructure, promoting economic and social development. At the same time, it will create momentum for tourism development in the Ba Be Lake area, shortening the travel distance from 4 hours to 1 hour.
