General Secretary To Lam holds phone talks with South African President
The South African President assessed the phone call with General Secretary To Lam as historic, "connecting the two sides of the ocean, overcoming geographical distances".
On the afternoon of April 22, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam had a phone call with President of the African National Congress (ANC), President of the South African Republic Cyril Ramaphosa, according to VNA.
Chairman of the ANC Party and President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa respectfully thanked General Secretary To Lam for taking the time to discuss and evaluate the historic phone call, which was held "connecting the two continents, overcoming geographical distances" to strengthen solidarity between the two Parties and open up cooperation opportunities between the two countries.
As G20 Chairman and Chairman of the ANC Party, the South African President officially invited senior Vietnamese leaders to attend the G20 Summit and invited a delegation of senior leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam to attend the G20 Party Conference, the G20 Summit and a series of related conferences to be held in South Africa in 2025.
General Secretary To Lam sincerely thanked the special feelings that the Party, State, people of South Africa and President Cyril Ramaphosa personally have always had for the Party, State and people of Vietnam, demonstrating political trust as well as deep sympathy and sharing between the two peoples.
The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam congratulated the ANC Party on continuing to promote its leading role in the establishment of the Government of National Solidarity and expressed his confidence that the Government of National Solidarity and the people of South Africa will continue to reap many new victories, building a united, peaceful, stable and developed South African country, playing an increasingly high role in the African region and the world.

The two sides agreed to promote the implementation of many cooperation activities to enhance political trust and promote the effectiveness of the "Cooperation for Cooperation and Development" cooperation framework between Vietnam and South Africa, including actively exchanging and promptly signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two Parties, creating a legal framework for the implementation of cooperation activities.
The Chairman of the ANC Party and President of South Africa said that South Africa highly appreciated the experience of the Communist Party of Vietnam in Party building and leadership in socio-economic development; announced that the party party party party party will soon send a high-level delegation to Vietnam to learn about Vietnam's experience and discuss measures to promote the development of bilateral relations more substantially and effectively for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability and prosperity in the two regions.
The two sides agreed to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation, soon increase bilateral trade turnover commensurate with the potential of both sides; strengthen cooperation in the fields of education, national defense, security, and study the possibility of expanding cooperation to other potential areas such as energy, mining, sustainable use of resources, infrastructure development, climate change, etc.
On this occasion, Chairman of the ANC Party and President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa respectfully invited General Secretary To Lam to soon visit South Africa, General Secretary To Lam also respectfully invited Chairman of the ANC Party and President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa to soon visit Vietnam in 2025 to discuss specific measures to promote cooperation in the coming time. The two leaders have suggested that the two foreign ministries arrange visits at appropriate times.
