General Secretary To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly presided over the solemn welcoming ceremony for General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife Naly Sisoulith.
Morning of the 26th. 1, the official welcoming ceremony for General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife Naly Sisoulith on a state visit to Vietnam was solemnly held at the Presidential Palace according to the highest ceremony for heads of state.

Attending the welcoming ceremony were Politburo members: Tran Cam Tu, Standing member of the Secretariat; Le Minh Hung, Head of the Central Organizing Committee; General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security; Pham Gia Tuc, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; Le Hoai Trung, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Do Van Chien, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.
Also attending the welcoming ceremony were comrade: Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Vice President; members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of central ministries, departments and branches; leaders of the Government, the Office of the General Secretary and the Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos; and Ambassadors and Consulares of ASEAN countries in Vietnam.
From early in the morning, many teenagers, students and people in the capital with Vietnamese and Lao flags and fresh flowers in their hands standing along both sides of Hoang Van Thu Street led the Presidential Palace to happily welcome General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, his wife and the high-ranking delegation of the Lao Party and State.
At exactly 9:20 a.m., the reception convoy was escorted by a tour guide and a patrol vehicle carrying General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, his wife and the convoy to the Presidential Palace.
The convoy stopped at the red carpet, in the sound of welcoming music, General Secretary To Lam and his wife shook hands and welcomed General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife on a state visit to Vietnam. The students also sent the General Secretary, President of Laos and his wife fresh bouquets of flowers.
Next, General Secretary To Lam respectfully invited General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith to step up to the podium of honor. The series of great cities resounded majestically. The military band played the national anthems of the two countries.
General Secretary To Lam invited General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith to approve the Honor Guard to join the Vietnam People's Army.
After approving the Honor Guard, General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith introduced members of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries at the welcoming ceremony. The two leaders returned to the podium of honor, together witnessing the welcoming parade of the Honor Guard attending the Vietnam People's Army.
The visit took place at a time of great significance for both countries when Laos has just successfully held the 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and comrade Thongloun Sisoulith continues to be elected General Secretary of the 12th Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party; Vietnam has also successfully organized the 14th National Congress of the Party and comrade To Lam continues to be elected General Secretary of the 14th Party Central Committee.
Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam and General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and the high-ranking delegation of Laos held talks at the Party Central Committee Headquarters.
