General Secretary and President of Laos and his wife begin State visit to Vietnam
On the morning of January 26, General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife arrived in Hanoi, starting a state visit to Vietnam.
The State visit of General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife to Vietnam took place over 2 days 26-27.1.2026 at the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and his wife.
At Noi Bai International Airport, the delegation was welcomed by Politburo member and Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Do Van Chien; Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung and Party Central Committee Secretary and Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan;

Members of the Party Central Committee: Head of the Office of the President Le Khanh Hai, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Dai Thang; and Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam.

The selection of Vietnam by General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith as the first country to pay an official visit right after the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam have successfully organized the National Congresses of each Party, with profound political and foreign significance.
This affirms the special high level of political trust between the two Parties, two States as well as between the two Parties and two countries' senior leaders; at the same time, it shows that the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between Vietnam and Laos are always identified as the top strategic priority in the foreign policies and guidelines of both countries.
