Dak Lak province spends more money to support people to relocate from temporary markets
Dak Lak - Dak Lak provincial authorities agreed to pay additional support money to relocate people from temporary markets in Pong Drang town (Krong Buk district).
On April 14, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee informed that the province has just had a plan to support traders at the old Pong Drang market (Pong Drang town, Krong Buk district) to relocate the market and build a Green Park project in the area.
Previously, the People's Committee of Krong Buk district sent documents to competent authorities stating difficulties and problems in developing a support plan for traders at the old Pong Drang market.
The District People's Committee also proposed 2 support and compensation options for traders. In which, option 2 is considered more optimal when applying the provisions of current law to compensate and support.
The district calculates the support level for traders at more than 4.4 billion VND. Of which, the district budget is more than 3.1 billion VND and nearly 1.3 billion VND is the provincial budget.
With the proposal from the People's Committee of Krong Buk district, the Provincial People's Committee reported and the Standing Committee of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee agreed to support Krong Buk district with nearly 1.3 billion VND to support the relocation of people to the old market.
A leader of the Krong Buk District Party Committee said: "The district has directed relevant units to relocate traders from the old Pong Drang market, which must be completed in April 2025. Relocating traders in the old market has encountered many difficulties, but the district will resolutely implement it. If anyone does not agree, they must be forced to enforce it, there is no other way".
Over the past 3 years, Lao Dong Newspaper has had many articles reflecting on the above situation.
In 2017, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee assigned a private enterprise to invest in the construction of a new Pong Drang market in Krong Buk district with a total cost of more than 37 billion VND. In September 2021, the newly completed Pong Drang market with 312 kiosks, other items ensure current regulations. However, the newly built market has few people moving here to do business because the temporary market still exists.
Over the past 2 years, the leaders of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee have also issued documents directing the removal of difficulties and obstacles in the above incident. However, the People's Committee of Krong Buk district has not yet completely handled the incident for many different reasons.
On December 13, 2023, the competent authority of the People's Committee of Krong Buk district arranged forces to organize the clearance of spontaneous markets and business locations that were not in accordance with planning and regulations in Pong Drang town.
However, by the end of January 2024, the situation of temporary markets and illegal business locations had not been completely resolved, greatly affecting the legitimate rights of more than 80 traders in the area.
