Prime Minister requests Ministry of Science and Technology to complete 16 tasks that are overdue

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung requested the Ministry of Science and Technology to urgently complete 16 tasks that are overdue; complete them immediately in April 2026.

On April 22, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung chaired a working session with leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology and ministries and sectors on removing difficulties and obstacles to promote the development of science and technology (S&T), innovation and digital transformation (CDS).

Concluding, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the efforts and endeavors of the Ministry of Science and Technology in advising and organizing the implementation of Resolution 57, institutions and basic mechanisms and policies have been completed; promoting the development of infrastructure and technology; S&T, innovation, and digital transformation have been strongly and widely deployed, spreading to most industries, fields and all aspects of life.

However, there is still a situation of slowness and delay in task implementation; institutions, mechanisms, and policies in some fields are still inadequate; some guiding documents of laws have not been promulgated; mechanisms for mobilizing social resources, public-private partnerships, ordering, assigning tasks, contracting expenditures, and using funds are still problematic.

Regarding tasks that must be completed immediately in April 2026, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Science and Technology to urgently complete 16 tasks that are overdue; urgently submit and promulgate 3 decrees and 2 decisions of the Prime Minister guiding the Law on Digital Economy and the Law on Artificial Intelligence.

Review and complete the portfolio of strategic technology and strategic technology products in a streamlined direction, focusing on areas of decisive significance for the country's development both in the short and long term.

Establish an inter-sectoral coordination working group, establish a unified direction and coordination mechanism to organize the implementation of strategic technology development programs, especially coordination between businesses, schools, and research institutions, avoiding waste of resources.

The Ministry of Science and Technology shall coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Justice and relevant ministries and agencies to review, evaluate, propose updates and adjustments to the Information and Communication Infrastructure Plan, as well as national-level architectural frameworks serving IoT, to be completed in May 2026.
