Prime Minister concludes visit to Algeria, leaves for G20 Summit in South Africa
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit was made at the invitation of South African President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa.
On the evening of November 20, 2025, local time (early morning of November 21, Hanoi time), Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife successfully concluded their official visit to Algeria, continuing to South Africa to attend the G20 Summit at the invitation of President of the South African Republic Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa - G20 Chair in 2025.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit is a historic milestone, marking a new and strong development step in the Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership between Vietnam and South Africa established in 2004.
This visit not only strengthens the political and diplomatic foundation but also opens up new heights for economic and trade cooperation, on the basis that for many years South Africa has been Vietnam's largest trading partner in Africa, achieving a turnover of more than 1 billion USD/year, in 2024 alone reaching more than 1.7 billion USD.
The G20 is a forum for the gathering of the world's leading developed and emerging economies, including countries that currently account for more than 90% of global domestic product (GDP).
The forum was established to discuss and resolve important international economic and financial issues, but the scope of discussion is now broader and more inclusive.
This is the first time the G20 has been held in Africa, and it is expected to discuss content on many global issues, including sustainable development and will have its own mark on Africa.
The participation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will continue to affirm Vietnam's position as a positive voice from Southeast Asia, promoting the role of developing countries in global issues such as sustainable development and economic fairness, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's influence in international forums.
