On the evening of November 18, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung led a working delegation to inspect and direct the work to overcome landslides at Khanh Le Pass in Khanh Hoa Province.

At the scene, the Deputy Prime Minister listened to the representative of the construction unit report on the progress of handling the landslides.

According to the construction unit, there are currently 7 landslides on Khanh Le Pass, including a location extending about 50m with a large amount of rock and soil, forcing the construction force to mobilize many heavy machinery to clear the area.

Commending the efforts of the construction force, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung suggested that the forces continue to deploy according to the direction of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee.

That is, after the first step of the route is opened, it is necessary to focus on drainage, reinforce the embankments and landslides, because the area still has a very high potential risk if more heavy rain appears.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that although the road can be temporarily opened, it is not possible to allow people to travel again immediately, because more time is needed to reinforce the overall system and ensure absolute safety.

In the immediate future, forces must focus maximum human resources and equipment on landslide recovery.

Referring to the long-term, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the landslide on Khanh Le Pass is not the first time it has occurred.

The Government is interested in investing in synchronous strategic transport routes connecting the Central Highlands with the Central Coast in the direction of building expressways, such as the Buon Ma Thuot - Nha Trang, Quy Nhon - Pleiku routes...

These routes are important for socio-economic development and strategic security.

The plan has been well developed and is being reported to the Government for further consideration and implementation in the coming time.

Immediately after finishing the visit on Khanh Le Pass, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung visited Khanh Hoa General Hospital to visit and present gifts to the victims of the recent passenger bus buried by rocks and soil.
