Retired military officers will receive support in January every year
Retired military officers will receive support for nursing care, care when suffering from serious illnesses, information and funeral regimes.
The Ministry of National Defense is currently drafting a Circular on nursing care, care when suffering from serious illnesses, information regimes, and funerals for retired military officers, the Government Electronic Information Portal on January 14 said.
Article 4, the draft Circular stipulates and guides the implementation of a number of articles of Decree No. 343/2025/ND-CP dated December 28, 2025 on nursing care and care regimes for serious illnesses, information regimes, and funeral support when passing away for retired military officers, which specifically stipulates nursing invitations and nursing allowances for retired military officers.
Accordingly, the health insurance for subjects specified in Clause 1, Article 4 of Decree No. 343/2025/ND-CP is implemented as an annual health insurance and allowance regime for subjects receiving salaries and allowances from the state budget of agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense as prescribed in Circular No. 96/2025/TT-BQP dated August 25, 2025 of the Ministry of National Defense stipulating standards, food quantities and basic food levels for infantry, military, military personnel, patients being treated, international military students; additional meals on holidays, Tet, during duty; annual health insurance and allowances;
Nursing allowances are paid in January every year.
In case of disciplinary violations and laws being handled and a judgment or disciplinary decision on a military officer retiring from a competent authority takes effect in the first quarter of each year, if the nursing allowance regime has not been paid, the nursing allowance support regime will be stopped; in case the nursing allowance or disciplinary decision for a military officer retiring from a competent authority takes effect before the date of judgment or disciplinary decision, the amount paid will be recovered and paid to the state budget according to regulations.
Previously, Decree No. 343/2025/ND-CP of the Government also stipulated that retired military officers who suffer from one of the diseases on the list of serious diseases as prescribed by the Minister of Health will be examined and assessed for serious diseases. If the competent Medical Assessment Council as prescribed by the Ministry of National Defense concludes that they have serious diseases, they will enjoy the following regimes and policies:
Quarterly support is equal to 2 times the basic salary. The time of receiving benefits is calculated quarterly and the Medical Assessment Council concludes that the disease is serious.
When receiving inpatient treatment at medical examination and treatment facilities inside and outside the Army, they are guaranteed a difference in medical meals compared to basic meals for infantrymen according to the provisions of the law on standards for logistics for active service soldiers.
