Long Thanh Airport Phase 2 Assigns ACV As Investor

On January 14, according to information from Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), the Ministry of Construction issued a decision on assigning ACV as the investor of phase 2 of the Long Thanh airport project.

ACV is assigned to be the investor of phase 2 of the Long Thanh Airport project, except for technical infrastructure works to ensure flight operations that will be assigned to Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) to conduct the investment.

ACV organizes the preparation of the feasibility study report for phase 2 of Long Thanh airport, in which it is possible to study the investment phases of the projects to meet the exploitation needs. ACV has fully arranged capital to invest in projects in phase 2 of the Long Thanh airport project, ensuring quality, required progress and investment efficiency of projects, preserving and developing state capital in enterprises.

Along with that, ACV closely coordinates with VATM in the process of preparing to invest in projects in phase 2 of the Long Thanh Airport project.

Long Thanh airport is planned to be built with a capacity of 100 million passengers and 25 million tons of cargo per year, a total investment of more than 16 billion USD, the project is divided into 3 investment phases.

According to the decision approving the investment project to build Long Thanh airport phase 1 in 2020, the project is divided into 4 component projects. In which, ACV was assigned to be the investor of component project 3, essential works in the airport. In phase 1, the project will invest in the construction of 1 runway (runway), 1 passenger terminal and synchronous auxiliary items with a capacity of 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of goods per year.

At the end of March 2025, the Prime Minister issued a decision approving the adjustment of the Long Thanh airport project, phase 1, and adding the construction of an additional runway in phase 1 of the project.

On December 19, 2025, ACV held an inauguration ceremony for the projects and opened the first flight at Long Thanh airport.

According to the plan, Long Thanh airport phase 1 will be completed and put into commercial operation in the first half of 2026.
