Pension increases from July 1 not only help retirees have more monthly expenses but also create more spiritual motivation for the elderly.

Sharing about the upcoming pension increase, Ms. Pham Lanh in Bac Ninh said that most elderly people carry many underlying diseases. People with diabetes, people with blood fat, people with bone and joint pain, so most of the pension money is spent on health care.

I have to buy medicine every month. There is health insurance support, but I still have to buy more supplements outside. So when I know my pension is increased, I feel much more secure," Ms. Lanh said.

According to Ms. Lanh, for retirees, the important thing is not only to have more money but also to feel cared for and somewhat guaranteed for their lives when their health declines in old age.

Not only helping to cover medical expenses, pension increases also bring joy to many families.

Ms. Pham Chuyen in Thanh Tri commune, Hanoi said that retirees always cherish each additional amount of money in the context of increasing living costs.

According to Decree 162/2026/ND-CP, from July 1, 2026, the pension level, social insurance allowance and monthly allowance will be adjusted to increase by an additional 8% on the benefit level of June 2026 for groups subject to application.

The Decree stipulates the adjustment applied to people currently receiving pensions, social insurance allowances and monthly allowances before July 1, 2026.

In which, the group currently receiving monthly pensions includes cadres, civil servants, workers, public employees, laborers; people participating in voluntary social insurance; soldiers, people's police and people working in cryptography who are receiving monthly pensions.

In addition, there are commune, ward, and town officials who are receiving pensions or monthly allowances according to current regulations.

The Decree also applies to people who are receiving monthly unemployment benefits; people who are receiving benefits under Decision 91/2000/QD-TTg, Decision 613/QD-TTg; rubber workers who are receiving monthly benefits under Decision 206-CP.

Other groups include soldiers who are receiving monthly allowances according to Decision 142/2008/QD-TTg; people's police who receive allowances according to Decision 53/2010/QD-TTg; soldiers, people's police, and people working in cryptography who receive allowances according to Decision 62/2011/QD-TTg.

People entitled to monthly occupational accident and disease allowances and people entitled to monthly allowances according to Article 23 of the Law on Social Insurance No. 41/2024/QH15 are also subject to adjustments to increase.

Notably, the decree also stipulates additional support policies for people retiring before January 1, 1995 with low benefits.

After an increase of 8%, if the benefit level is still lower than 3.8 million VND/month, it will be adjusted further. People with a benefit level equal to or lower than 3.5 million VND/month will receive an additional increase of 300,000 VND/month. People with a benefit level above 3.5 million VND/month but lower than 3.8 million VND/month will be increased to 3.8 million VND/month.

According to statistics from Vietnam Social Security, there are currently about 3.5 million people receiving pensions and allowances. With this adjustment, the additional funding compared to 2025 is about 10,773 billion VND.
