The project with a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND, aims to constantly enhance the passenger experience through a design that harmonizes with nature, bringing resort space and cultural experiences in every touch point at the station.

Started in 2015, Terminal T2 project was completed miraculously in just 18 months of construction and officially put into operation on May 19, 2017, successfully serving APEC 2017 high-level week.

Since then, Terminal T2 has continuously strived to affirm its position as a bright spot in the model of socializing aviation infrastructure when it became the only terminal in Vietnam to meet the 5-star Skytrax standard for three consecutive years 2024, 2025 and 2026.

According to actual operating data in 2019, Terminal T2 welcomed more than 7.1 million passengers, exceeding the designed capacity by 79% by 4 million passengers. In 2024 and 2025, passenger volume continuously maintained at a high level, reaching 6.18 million and 6.81 million passengers respectively.

The project is implemented on an area of 3,600m2, raising the total land use area after expansion to about 21,085m2. Specifically, the check-in area will be significantly expanded with the number of check-in counters increasing from 54 to 85 counters, adding 31 new service locations.

Notably, the capacity to serve aircraft is greatly optimized when the number of departure gates by tube bridge increases from 4 to 7 gates, minimizing passengers having to travel by bus in unfavorable weather conditions.

Regarding technical infrastructure, the project invests in a new generation luggage processing system (BHS), increasing capacity from 2 to 4 outward luggage conveyor belts and from 4 to 6 inward luggage conveyor belts. At the same time, the air conditioning system uses variable frequency and airflow control (VAV) technology to help save energy and ensure optimal microclimate for the terminal.
