Opening of the direct flight connecting Belarus - Phu Quoc
This is the first direct flight connecting the capital Minsk (Belarus) with the Phu Quoc special zone (An Giang).
On October 12, flight number BRU 8197 of Belavia International Airport (Belarusian Airlines) landed at Phu Quoc International Airport. This is the first direct flight connecting the capital Minsk (Belarus) with the Phu Quoc special zone (An Giang).
Nearly 300 passengers and crew members arrived at Phu Quoc pearl island. The national airline Belavia plans to operate periodically with a frequency of 10 days/trip, with a capacity of about 300 passengers.
Speaking at the flight welcoming ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Standing Deputy Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council said: the opening of the Minsk - Phu Quoc direct flight route is an important milestone in the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus. This event has opened a new phase of cooperation, aiming to connect trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Tourism and aviation are two closely linked sectors, both creating momentum for economic growth and international integration. Tourists of Belarus coming to Phu Quoc in the first 9 months of 2025 will be about 1,900 and will have potential for development in the coming time.
The Minsk - Phu Quoc route will open up a new space for cooperation, shortening the gap between Southeast Asia and Central - Eastern Europe; creating conditions for Belarusese tourists, businesses and investors to get closer to Vietnam, while helping Vietnamese goods, agricultural products and industrial products to the Belarus and European markets more conveniently.
The opening of the route today is even more meaningful as Phu Quoc will host the APEC 2027 Summit Week - the leading important foreign event in the Asia-Pacific region. International routes such as Minsk - Phu Quoc not only connect trade, but also create a positive spread, helping Phu Quoc - An Giang affirm its position as a safe, friendly, deeply integrated destination, worthy of being "the island of cooperation and sustainable development", Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan affirmed.
In the first 9 months of 2025, An Giang tourism welcomed 19.9 million visitors, an increase of 18.7% over the same period; of which 1.2 million were international visitors, with total revenue reaching VND51,000 billion, an increase of 75.9%. Phu Quoc alone welcomed 6.5 million visitors, including 1.2 million international visitors, with a total revenue of about 31,000 billion VND.
