Comrade To Lam was elected General Secretary of the 14th Party Central Committee

On the morning of January 23, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, the 14th Party Central Committee held its first meeting to elect the Politburo, General Secretary, Secretariat and Central Inspection Committee.

At the first conference, the 14th Party Central Committee elected Comrade To Lam - Politburo member of the 14th Politburo, member of the 14th Party Central Committee, term 2026-2031 - to hold the position of General Secretary of the 14th Party Central Committee.

Previously, on January 22, 2026, at the 14th National Congress of the Party, Comrade To Lam was elected as a member of the 14th Party Central Committee for the 2026-2031 term.

Comrade To Lam was born on July 10, 1957. Hung Yen Province Hometown. Professional qualifications: Professor, Doctor of Law; University of Public Security.

January 2019: Promoted to the rank of General of the People's Public Security.

From May 22, 2024 - October 21, 2024: President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

August 3, 2024: The 13th Party Central Committee elected him as General Secretary of the 13th Party Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

January 22, 2026: The 14th National Congress of the Party elected him to the 14th Party Central Committee.

January 23, 2026: The first conference of the 14th Party Central Committee elected him as General Secretary of the 14th Party Central Committee.
