New proposal for airport project worth over VND5,800 billion in Quang Tri
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just submitted to the Ministry of Construction for approval to partially adjust Quang Tri airport to 2030.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, with the urgent requirements of socio-economic development as well as ensuring security and defense, the Prime Minister has agreed to the investment policy for the construction of Quang Tri airport under the public-private partnership (PPP) method and assigned the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to be the competent authority to approve the investment policy for the construction of Quang Tri Airport.
During the project research and implementation, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province coordinated with investors to review a number of investment items that need to be adjusted to suit the project's goals, scale and investment phases.
The goal of the adjustment is to ensure the synchronous operation of the road yard system and drainage system of the airport area, as a basis for implementing the next steps, ensuring compliance with current requirements.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that the content of the local adjustment of the planning of Quang Tri airport is as follows: adding a border gate system on both sides of the runway; adding a border gate system at the edge of the aircraft parking lot; adding a drainage system from the fence to the open ditch system; adjusting the turning point location at the beginning of the 22 runways; adding a turning point at the beginning of the 4 runways and adjusting the GP gate location to the South of the beginning of the 22 runways to ensure the reflective surface of the runway.
"This adjustment does not change the nature, scale or objectives of the project. Other contents remain the same as the planning of Quang Tri Airport approved by the Ministry of Transport ( Nay is the Ministry of Construction) in Decision No. 188/QD-BGTVT dated January 26, 2021.
To have a basis for implementing the next steps, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam recommends that the Ministry of Construction consider and approve local adjustments to the planning of Quang Tri Airport for the period up to 2030 to ensure the synchronization of technical infrastructure, meet practical development requirements and be consistent with the investment plan approved by competent authorities. At the same time, meeting the increasing demand for air transport, contributing to promoting economic and social development; ensuring high mobility in defense as well as in rescue work; ensuring national defense and security of the Central region in general and of Quang Tri province in particular.
The Quang Tri airport project is implemented in Gio Quang and Gio Mai communes, Gio Linh district. The scale of the Project is over 265 hectares, the total investment for the two phases is 5,833.9 billion VND; invested in construction to meet the standards of a level 4C airport (according to the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization -ICAO), capable of developing the exploitation of Code E aircraft, allowing the exploitation of unusual international flights according to the plan, meeting the exploitation needs of up to 5 million passengers/year and 25,500 tons of cargo/year.
