14th Party Congress: A catalyst for Vietnam to rise up
The 14th Congress will be a historic milestone, creating the foundation for a new leap forward in building socialism and economic growth in Vietnam.
On the occasion of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (14th National Congress), a reporter for VNA in New Delhi had an interview with the General Secretary of the ruling People's Liberation Front (JVP) Party in Sri Lanka, Mr. Tilvin Silva, about the stature of the Congress as well as expectations for Vietnam's new development path.
According to Mr. Tilvin Silva, the 14th Congress will be a historic milestone, creating the foundation for a new leap forward in building socialism and economic growth in Vietnam.
He emphasized that the Congress needs to be recognized in the flow of nearly a century of development of the Communist Party of Vietnam since 1930 - a journey marked by the struggle for national independence, national reunification and building a socialist-oriented market economic model.
The General Secretary of the People's Liberation Front Party especially appreciated the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the ideological heritage of President Ho Chi Minh, considering this a foundational source of inspiration for the development of modern Vietnam.
According to him, it is the strategic decisions adopted at previous Congresses that have made Vietnam a country with an increasingly solid position in Asia. Therefore, the 14th National Congress - with the role of establishing the Party's ideological, political and organizational orientation - will continue to be a catalyst to help Vietnam proactively adapt to the new global context and aim to become a high-income country.
Referring to the new priorities stated in the draft documents of the Congress, such as placing environmental protection on par with socio-economic development, raising the level of foreign affairs and international integration, as well as promoting the role of culture, people and the private economic sector, Mr. Tilvin Silva said that this is a manifestation of modern and responsible development thinking.
In the context of the world facing environmental consequences from rapid industrialization, Vietnam's choice of a growth path associated with sustainable development is very correct.
According to the leader of the People's Liberation Front Party, the strategic goals to 2030 and vision to 2045 demonstrate Vietnam's strong aspirations. The milestone of 2030, when celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, is identified by Vietnam as the time to become a developing country with modern industry and high average income, while the vision to 2045, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the country, aims to build a developed socialist state with high income.
To achieve that, he said that Vietnam needs to make the most of science - technology, innovation, digital transformation and renewable energy, while improving the efficiency of productive forces and social awareness.
General Secretary Tilvin Silva also highly appreciated Vietnam's open and balanced foreign policy, saying that continuing to strengthen international integration will create more opportunities for the Vietnamese people.
Regarding the self-innovation capacity of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the leader of the People's Liberation Front Party affirmed that this is a key factor to ensure the Party's dynamism and vitality in the new period.
Focusing on discipline, strengthening organization, innovating leadership methods towards science, democracy and efficiency, building a socialist rule-of-law state and steadfastly governing the people as the center will continue to strengthen social trust and ensure the feasibility of development commitments.
In the next 5 years, according to Mr. Tilvin Silva, Vietnam needs to prioritize promoting economic growth associated with institutional improvement, environmental protection, maintaining an independent, autonomous and flexible foreign policy, while closely combining with national defense and security. At the same time, the task of building, rectifying and modernizing the Party still plays a central role, especially in preventing bureaucracy and privileges and benefits among cadres and party members.
The General Secretary of the People's Liberation Front Party emphasized that with the orientation of development based on science - technology, innovation and digital transformation, Vietnam is gradually forming new productive forces, creating a foundation for rapid and sustainable growth.
He said that Vietnam's path of human-centric development is becoming a source of inspiration for many developing countries and expressed his belief that the 14th Congress will succeed, opening a new stage of development for the country.
