HCMC - On the first day of receiving new assignments, police officers of Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1, were present early to assign a duty schedule, ready to receive people.
From March 2025, Ho Chi Minh City Police officially has a new organizational model and apparatus, not organizing police at the district and county levels. With the new model, Ho Chi Minh City Police reduced from 55 units to 33 units, of which 246 team-level units were reduced. Some tasks received from departments and branches have officially come into operation.
Ward police receive new duties
According to Lao Dong on the morning of March 3, at the headquarters of Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police (District 1), on the first day of implementing the new operating model, officers were present early to assign a duty schedule and were ready to receive people to do administrative procedures according to regulations.

A representative of Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police (District 1) said that the unit is currently taking on a number of new functions and tasks previously under the authority of the district police. Accordingly, Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police will have an additional security team, the ward police will be assigned additional authority to manage the area, including inspection and handling of administrative violations.
For example, previously, the ward police only managed hotels with less than 10 rooms, while 10 rooms or more were under the authority of the district police. Now, the ward police will manage all accommodation facilities in the area," said a representative of Pham Ngu Lao ward police.

Also according to the representative of Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police, regarding additional personnel, we are waiting for assignment from Ho Chi Minh City Police. "Currently, Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police have about 28 personnel and are still doing normal work as before," said a representative of Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police.
"I find the streamlining of the operating apparatus very good, this will improve work efficiency, create more favorable conditions for people in handling administrative procedures, not having to travel much, saving time and effort", Ms. Nguyen Nhu Ngoc said on the morning of March 3 at Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police.


The representative of Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police also said that at first, when receiving a new assignment, there were no shortage of difficulties, but the ward police officers are trying their best to complete the assigned tasks well.
"We are in the process of both working and acquising new knowledge and skills," said a police officer of Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police.
Adding 22 points to change driving licenses at ward and commune police
From the beginning of March 2025, Ho Chi Minh City Police officially received new applications, changed and reissued driving licenses (GPLX). This is an important step in the transfer of driving license management from the Department of Transport to the Ho Chi Minh City Police and has attracted the attention of many people.

According to the reporter's records at the headquarters at 252 Ly Chinh Thang Street, Ward 9, District 3, many people rushed to complete procedures to issue and change driving licenses. Some people with a driver's license that is about to expire or want to change to a new model are also rushing to register early.
In addition to supporting the reception of documents, people are also instructed by staff to release information online to shorten the time. The police force has arranged many tables to receive and guide people to complete their documents. Thanks to careful preparation, the procedures took place quite quickly.


According to the representative of the Road and Railway Traffic Police Department (PC08), Ho Chi Minh City Police, to facilitate people in exchanging and reissuing driving licenses, saving time, travel and waiting costs, Ho Chi Minh City Police have arranged 22 more locations at the police of 17 wards of districts, Thu Duc City are registering motorbikes and the police of 5 central communes of Binh Chanh, Can Gio, Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, Nha Be districts.
These locations include: Cu Chi town, Hoc Mon town, Tan Tuc town, Phu Xuan commune and Can Thanh town.
