The water recedes at the construction site of the hundred-billion-dong dam in the border area

In May 2023, the People's Council of Cao Bang province issued Resolution No. 20 approving the investment policy for the Cao Bang city dam construction project.

The investment goal of the project is to raise and stabilize the water level for the Bang River, create a landscape in the city center and facilitate the exploitation of surface water for production and daily life in the riverside area.

After the dam is built, it will create an open, spacious water surface space to regulate the climate, improve the ecological environment, develop services, tourism on the river and on both sides of the river.

The water-upprising dam helps reduce the increase in the river water level, increase the stability of the riverbank, reduce the flow rate, and minimize landslides.

Regulate water levels in the dry season by using flat valve gates and returning flood drainage aperture almost to the natural river, ensuring flood drainage capacity.

The project belongs to group B project with a total investment of 150 billion VND from the local budget supplemented by development investment expenditure invested by the Cao Bang City Investment and Construction Project Management Board.

According to information from the People's Committee of Cao Bang City, the locality set a target of completing this project on April 30 this year, as a project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification.

However, due to the large workload, the official operational target on April 30 is difficult to complete. On April 23, informing reporters, the project investor's representative said that there is still a lot of work, the contractor is giving workers continuous overtime.

"However, now we cannot do it synchronously but have to get on our knees and do whatever needs to be done first. In the immediate future, on April 30, we hope to save water and put the project into trial operation, the target of 100% completion is still achieved" - said the investor representative.

According to the actual records of the reporter, at the construction site, dozens of workers and machines are working busily to keep up with the assigned progress. Over 90% of the volume processed, the 4 main pillars of the dam system have taken shape. The valve doors are also put into the assembly waiting position.

Some locations are being paved with concrete piles, while some other locations continue to be leveled and completed. Along the banks of the Bang Giang River have also been renovated and cleaned to prepare for water supply and dam operation.

Mr. Hoang Van Quang (Cao Bang city) - shared: "The dam will perform a good function of flood drainage, avoid flooding, stabilize people's lives and if there are real boat docks on the river, this will be a new development direction for the locality".

It is known that in addition to the construction of a dam system, the Bang Giang riverbed is also being actively dredged and cleared to beautify the landscape, helping the flow to circulate better and prepare for water raising after the dam is completed.
