How to consider talent admission to Hanoi University of Science and Technology
Hanoi University of Science and Technology on April 8 announced regulations on talent admission methods in 2025.
The talent admission method to Hanoi University of Science and Technology in 2025 includes: Direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; based on international certificates; based on competency records combined with interviews.
For the group of admissions based on international certificates, candidates must have an average of 8 or higher in each year of high school and have at least 1 of the following international certificates valid at the time of registration: SAT, ACT, ALevel, AP and IB. For A-Level and AP certificates, only consider certificates with Math exam scores and 2 of the following subjects: Physics/C chemistry/Binh/Tin/Science/English.
The certificate score applied for admission is the total score of the Math subject and the 2 subjects with the highest remaining scores.
Candidates with VSTEP English certificate or IELTS international English certificate or equivalent (according to Hanoi University of Science and Technology) valid until the time of registration, with authentication registration on the Hanoi University of Science and Technology system will be added bonus points to the total certificate score.

The talent admission score of candidates registered under the international certificate scoring model is calculated as the total score of international certificates that candidates register on the system. If the XTTN score is ≥ 100 points, it will be reduced to 100 points.

For the group based on proficiency records, candidates must have an average of 8 or higher academic scores each year in high school, and at the same time meet one of the following requirements: Encouragement prize or higher in the enthusiastic student exam for Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Foreign Language, Provincial and University-level Complex; third prize in the science and technology competition from the provincial level or higher; participate in the monthly round of the Road to Olympia competition; be students in the professional system of the above subjects.
The competency score is based on total academic performance, performance and reward points. In which, the maximum academic score is 40, the maximum score is 50 and the reward score is 10.
For academic scores alone, the school considers the average score of 6 semesters, according to the combination of Math, Literature and one of the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Business. In which, Math has a coefficient of 3, Literature has a coefficient of 1, the rest is a coefficient of 2. This calculation method is different from last year, when the main subject multiplied by a coefficient of 2 and the remaining two subjects had a coefficient of 1.
Academic scores are calculated according to the formula:
[Math x 3 + Literature x 1 + Physics/C chemistry/Since/ tin x 2] x 4/6
With an achievement score, candidates are considered to have the highest achievement in a subject or a subject. Students will receive additional bonus points if they have other achievements in studying and scientific research, such as foreign language certificates, awards for talent, arts, sports, social activities, etc.
With a competency score of 55/100 or higher, candidates are allowed to enter the interview round.
The interview content assessed the contestants' knowledge of society in general, without testing their learning knowledge. The contents include: knowledge of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the program that candidates plan to enroll in, study plans if they are admitted, presentation skills, argumentation, persuasion, response and personal abilities.
The maximum interview score of candidates is 20. The minimum level that candidates need to achieve is 10. However, this score is not calculated together with academic performance and achievements.
Candidates who pass this round will be returned by Hanoi University of Science and Technology to use their ability profile scores, from high to low. Thus, if the interview score does not match, candidates will be eliminated no matter how high their application score is.
