Set the start date for phase 2 of the Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway

On April 23, Secretary of the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee Quan Minh Cuong - Head of the Steering Committee for the Dong Dang (Lang Son) - Tra Linh (Cao Bang) Expressway Project chaired a meeting to assess the progress and deploy upcoming key tasks. Attending were provincial leaders, related units and the investor - Deo Ca Group.

The project in phase 1 has a total investment of more than VND 14,100 billion, of which the State budget accounts for VND 9,800 billion. The expected payback period is more than 22 years.

Up to now, the site clearance work has reached more than 95%, localities have handed over most of the land area, completed bomb and mine clearance according to technical documents. The relocation of the power system is being carried out in order of priority, without affecting the construction progress.

Regarding construction, contractors have mobilized more than 1,100 equipment, machinery and over 2,000 personnel, deployed simultaneously on the entire route. The total value of the construction volume reached about VND 2,400 billion, equivalent to nearly 24% of the contract.

At the meeting, Secretary of the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee Quan Minh Cuong acknowledged the efforts of all parties and emphasized that this is a key project, demonstrating the locality's commitment to the Government.

He requested the entire political system to take drastic action to ensure the completion of technical traffic in 2025. Departments and branches are assigned specific tasks such as: resolving shortages of construction materials, completing adjusted design documents, and increasing construction by "3 shifts, 4 teams".

Phase 2 of the project is expected to start construction on September 2, 2025, with Deo Ca Group continuing to implement it under the PPP form. The Provincial People's Committee is assigned to prepare procedures for appointing bids, capital and construction conditions.

At the same time, it is necessary to calculate the connection route reasonably, ensuring synchronous exploitation and investment efficiency. The provincial leaders also emphasized the need to care about the lives of people in the project area, especially after resettlement.

It is known that phase 1 of the project starts at the Tan Thanh border gate intersection (Van Lang district, Lang Son province). The end point is at the National Highway 3 intersection (Chi Thao commune, Quang Hoa district, Cao Bang province).

Phase 2 will start from Chi Thao commune and connect to Tra Linh international border gate (Trung Khanh district, Cao Bang). In addition, the two routes connecting Cao Bang city and Ta Lung border gate with the Dong Dang - Tra Linh expressway were also approved by the Prime Minister in principle.

When put into operation, this border province will escape the "conclusion" in traffic. After completion, the route will shorten travel time from Cao Bang to Hanoi and vice versa from 6-7 hours to 3.5 hours.
