On the last day of 2025, the pace of life in Da Nang became more bustling than ever. When the crowd rushed home to meet the union member's time, somewhere under the street lights, environmental sanitation workers were still diligently cleaning, and homeless people were still quietly finding a place to take advantage of the night.
Understanding the hardship and disadvantage, the Tu Tam An Volunteer Club organized an overnight gift-giving program. 150 Tet gifts have been carefully prepared to send to "endless people" across the streets of Da Nang.
Each gift, although simple but imbued with the flavor of Tet, is a spiritual encouragement sent to workers who are still quietly contributing to the clean city until the last minute of the year.
The journey of this club started from central routes such as Bach Dang, Tran Phu and gradually spread to further areas. At each stop, not only gifts are given away but also sincere greetings and New Year wishes.
As soon as she quickly sweats the sweat on her forehead, Ms. Dinh Thi Ngoc Nang - an environmental sanitation worker working was moved: "There is a lot of garbage at the end of the year, we have to work overtime to keep the streets clean. While I was tired of receiving banh chung and a cake box from the children, I felt very warm. It felt like Tet was almost, even though I was still on the streets."
For workers, cakes and bottles of water on the last night of the year are not only food, but a symbol of the community's care. In the midst of the cold night of the last night of the year, the warmth from kindness seems to spread, partly dispelling the loneliness and hardship of the miserable lives.
Sharing about this activity, Ms. My Hien, representative of the Tu Tam An Volunteer Club, said: "The last day of the year always brings a very special feeling. I would like to thank the workers - the most hard-working people tonight through these gifts. At the same time, I also hope that the workers will have more joy and some cakes to welcome the new year to be less miserable".
150 gifts given away on the last night of the year in Da Nang are not just a number, they are 150 stories of kindness, a testament to the spirit of "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves" of the people of the city by the Han River.
